CentraState Medical Center produces the largest percentage of solar power of any hospital in New Jersey. The projects are projected to produce approximately 70% of the hospital’s electric needs and save over $600,000 in annual energy costs, more on-site generation than any other hospital in New Jersey.
CentraState Medical Center has been a true champion of solar renewable energy - CI Renewables (formerly KDC Solar) installed the first project for CentraState in 2014 - a 6.32 MW fixed ground mount. The team returned in 2019 to install a 3.94 MW dual-tilt carport and then again in 2020 to install another 1.58 MW dual-tilt carport over the remaining viable parking areas totaling 1,244 parking spots. In addition to the solar projects, the CentraState campus was transformed with all new asphalt paving and curbing upgrades, new landscaping throughout the parking lots and all new efficient LED lighting under all the canopies. All three projects are directly connected with the hospital infrastructure and provides power behind the meter to the not-for-profit healthcare facility.
